Dr. King did his undergraduate work at the University of Wisconsin. He graduated from Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 1975, and was named to Phi Zeta, a national honorary society.
Dr. King practiced veterinary medicine in Wisconsin for five years and joined the staff of Berkshire Veterinary Hospital in 1980. Dr. King is a member of the American Animal Hospital Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association, The Western Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association, the Association of Avian Veterinarians, and the Turks and Caicos Veterinary Associates.
Dr. King's special areas of interest are soft tissue and orthopedic surgery as well as Avian and Exotic medicine.
